Native Plants. Perennials, Gingers, Ferns, and Herbs
Coyote Creek is a family owned nursery located in the botanically unique Tunica Hills, near St. Francisville, Louisiana.
We have a deep love of the natural world and are fascinated by the infinite variety of plants and animals with which God has populated this beautiful planet. The wild animals we admire from afar, as they have their own paths to follow -- the plants we mess around with a lot!Much of our stock we propogate ourselves, from seed, from cuttings, and division; some we buy from reputable wholesalers. Nothing is taken from "the wild" (ie: our own acreage) unless it's rampant enough to quickly fill the gap or in a hopeless position anyway (like in the middle of the creekbed before the spring rains.)
We are not native plant purists. The world is full of interesting plants; if they aren't invasive and don't require non-earth-friendly care they are welcome in our garden and our nursery and many of them you will see in this listing.
If you are looking for something we don't list -- let us know. We are constantly experimenting with new species and always have many plants that are not listed in this catalog because their quantities are small or their bodies too large to ship.
If you would like to visit us, please call ahead; we are are almost always at the nursery site on Sunday afternoons between one and five and often one or two days during the week as well.
Our Main Street Market shop at 5th and Main in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is open Monday through Friday from nine until four and Saturday from eight until two.
Take Hwy 61 north from Baton Rouge, or south from Woodville, MS. Turn onto Island Rd, which intersects Hwy 61 about 7 miles north of St. Francisville, in the Wakefield area. You can turn only one way: west. We are located about a mile and a half down Island Rd., on the right. Look for our sign under the live oaks.
